Yas Island has showcased its world class leisure, entertainment and business offering to nearly 90 top-tier travel industry professionals from China.
The full day tour is part of a major summit to build on the current steep growth in tourists and business travellers from China to the UAE and delegates were welcomed by Karim El Guanaini, Vice President, Destination Management, Yas Island, accompanied by jovial characters in vibrant costumes from Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi.
Now in its third year, the Chinese Visitor Summit is running from August 23 to 28. Today’s tour of Yas Island commenced with a welcome at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi and included stops at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the Formula 1 track at Yas Marina Circuit, home to the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and Yas Links Abu Dhabi.
“Yas Island is an amazing destination because it’s a one-stop shop for our needs,” said Ms Xu Yuanyuan of Shanghai The Yue Club Co., Ltd. “Our clients are entrepreneurs and would find Yas Island the perfect place to meet their demands related to both business and leisure.”The latest figures from Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA) gave context to the tour of Yas Island, showing that for the six months ending June 2014, Abu Dhabi’s hotels have enjoyed their best half-year performance, yet. With April 2014 figures showing growth in the number of guests from China at 309 per cent up on the same month in the previous year, it is apparent that tourism from China is playing a part in the TCA’s results.
“The showcase has been a great opportunity to build relationships with influential travel industry representatives from China. We’ve gained valuable insights into the needs of travellers from China -whether they’re here for leisure or business. In turn, we have demonstrated how Yas Island can meet those needs,” commented Karim El Guanaini.
“I anticipate increased working relationships with our Chinese counterparts and look forward to developing travel packages catering specifically to the needs of Chinese visitors to the UAE.” Just seven minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport, Yas Island remains the ideal home base for Chinese travellers looking to explore Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE.
China is linked to Abu Dhabi through Etihad Airlines, which provides daily flights to Beijing and Shanghai and five weekly flights to Chengdu, and through Hainan Airlines, which operates two weekly flights to Beijing.
The Chinese Visitor Summit is being organised by npimedia in partnership with the Shanghai-based i2i Group and backed by the TCA.
