Turkey’s Antalya is getting ready for EXPO 2016

As Turkey’s first EXPO, EXPO 2016 Antalya will be held from April to October 2016. Starting with the title  of “Flowers and Children” EXPO 2016 Antalya has adopted the theme “Cultivating a Green Life for Future Generations”, along with the motto “A Green Life for Future Generations”.

History, Bio-Diversity, Sustainability and Green Cities make up the four subthemes of EXPO 2016 Antalya.

EXPO 2016 Antalya, which will host national and international congresses, panels, meetings and seminars will be held, will also provide cultural and artistic activities for its guests. It is anticipated that 8 million local and foreign visitors will visit EXPO 2016 Antalya over its 6-month duration. EXPO 2016 Antalya will be held on a 112-hectare exhibit site in Aksu.

EXPO 2016 Antalya aims at being the start of a new way of thinking, the intoxicating scent of flowers and the laughter of children throughout the city bringing with it hopes for a greener world.

EXPO 2016 will also host some activities such as country presentations/festivals, local expositions, international symposiums, world environment symposium, panels, meetings and seminars, children’s’ congresses and performing arts and concerts.

In the EXPO site, which will be a permanent site and work for both Turkey and Antalya, will include exhibition spaces for participant countries to introduce their gardening cultures. The exposition site will include: -the Expo Tower, symbolizing the historic Hadrianus Gate, one of the most important symbols of Antalya – the first Agriculture and Bio-Diversity Museum of Turkey -a Congress Centre with a seating capacity of 6500 – two amphitheatres with the capacity to seat 5000 persons and 800 persons, -the Children’s Island, where activities will be held to train children while entertaining them, -the Science and Technology Centre for Children -A countryside activity area to hold activities for children and their families, -Expo Lake -A peony-shaped like terrace, which is the symbol of EXPO 2016 Antalya -Expo Hill – Expo Forest -Expo Square -Culture and Art Street -Restaurants to reflect the architectural culture.
