TAV wins the $1.1 billion airport project in Bahrain 

TAV Construction has been awarded the new terminal construction tender, one of the most significant phases of airport modernization program in Bahrain. Bahrain Transport and Telecommunications Minister H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed and Bahrain Airports Company CEO Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah announced that Arabtec-TAV JV the $1.1 billion worth award in a press conference during Bahrain International Airshow. The deal is the largest construction project won by a Turkish company in Bahrain. Boasting a built-up area of 220,000 square meters, the new state-of-the-art terminal will increase from current yearly capacity of 4 million to 14 million passengers. The terminal is planned to be completed in 51 months.

The contract covers construction of terminal building having a capacity of 14 million passengers as well as construction of main service building, airside and landside infrastructure works and multi-storey car park. Works on site will begin in March with a targeted completion date of 51 months. To be constructed by green technologies, the terminal building is designed as LEED Gold building.
