Qatar entrepreneurs hold great potential for its economic future

Qatar’s entrepreneurs possess great potential for the future of its economic progress and entrepreneurship is an essential building block of any local economy and a job multiplier, according to global hydrocarbon major ExxonMobil.

In this regard, ExxonMobil has already tied up with Injaz Qatar, which is laying the groundwork for future innovations.

“Developing people and creating and delivering sustainable, long-term benefits for local communities are essential to our industry around the world, especially here in Qatar. At ExxonMobil, we see it as our responsibility to contribute to Qatar’s sustained growth as it moves towards a knowledge-based economy,” said ExxonMobil Qatar chief Bart Cahir, who is also the board member of Injaz Qatar.

ExxonMobil, as an organisation, is supporting the right programmes to help to get young people started on the right path, he said, adding “we are developing the next generation of business leaders who will successfully reach their full potential and contribute to Qatar’s success.”

Terming entrepreneurs as a rare breed, he said having a great idea and having the tools and skills to make that idea a reality is a powerful package and Injaz is laying the groundwork for future innovations, and for ExxonMobil, that is an effort it is proud to support.

“As a leader of an industry that relies on math, science and engineering, we are aware of the key role education plays in providing employment and fuelling economic growth in the State of Qatar. ExxonMobil sees the value that Injaz Qatar provides Arab youth through experiential education, training in work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship,” according to Cahir.

ExxonMobil’s support for Injaz underscores its responsibility to help the region develop tomorrow’s leaders. Beyond this commitment, it supports several other local sponsorships, internships and summer programmes geared towards reaching young people in their formative years and giving them the tools they need to succeed, he said.

“ExxonMobil’s partnership with Injaz provides a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs to showcase their business acumen and creativity with an audience of some of Qatar’s most successful business leaders, who could also become potential investors. Playing a role in making the connection between young people with new ideas and business leaders is quite gratifying in itself as we believe strongly that these connections are critical for the future,” he said.

ExxonMobil supports Injaz al-Arab in several countries in the region, providing both financial support and employee volunteers, who share their professional experiences and skills with students at local schools and universities, he added.
